my week in food
This past Saturday we had a bbq with some of my hubby’s college suite mates. I kept the food super easy with burgers, bratwurst, hot dogs, potato salad (that turned out more like mashed potatoes 🙄), pasta salad, chips, some dips and homemade bread.
It was so nice to catch up with everyone, especially since I hadn’t seem some of them in about eight years!! We finished the night with some smores.
Sunday morning we had a quick pancake breakfast, before we headed to a birthday party at Build a Bear for L.
I snuck a cupcake at the part of course 😉.
The party ended right at lunchtime, so hubby and L headed to Noodles & Co, while I grabbed a chicken salad sandwich from Potbelly’s. I haven’t been there in ages, and boy was this sandwich yummy!
Since we had tons of leftovers, so Sunday and Monday, we had burgers again 😋.
I kept dinners super simple again this week. I still have about eight weeks to go before this little guy shows up, but I have been exhausted, so my desire to cook has been a tad low lately. Hence dinners like bread, chicken and an easy salad. Despite being easy, it was delicious! Plus with fall around the corner, I am kicking of the season of Pumpkin Seed Bread 😍, one of the things I missed most about Germany this time of year.
We also had oatmeal a few times, this being a cinnamon oatmeal, topped with bananas and cinnamon sugar.
L requested taco bowls again this week, but truth be told … as much as I love taco’s and taco bowls, I can’t really see another taco bowl right now. And since L loves pasta, I figured, why not try to put most of the taco fixing’s into a pasta dish, right?! I was a bit surprised that it actually turned out quite good.
Do you guys have an Amish market where you live? It is such a dangerous place because all their food is amazing!! Especially their filled pretzels. I normally get a pretzel cheese dog, but we’ve been going in the mornings lately, so I’ve opted for the breakfast log, which is filled with egg, cheese and bacon!!! Let you tell you … it is as AMAZING at it looks. I don’t even want to know how bad they are for you, because they also dip them in butter before they are served, but they are worth every. single. bite!!
Thursday I tried something new and made lasagna rolls (L and I made a short video on my FB page). It was a tad messy to make and the lasagna noodles always fall apart from me, but they turned out okay. A bit dry but they hit the spot. I think I’ll stick to traditional lasagnas from now on though. We paired it with a banana, mango and strawberry smoothie.
L has her first ballet class tonight, so dinner will be an array of leftovers. We also have a super busy weekend ahead with a maternity photo shoot, a flu shot for L, a birthday party and a baptism … so I made zero plans in terms of food and we will just wing it 😉.
What are you all up to this weekend?!
