my week in food

my week in food

Coming home from the beach is always so bittersweet!! I miss the beach, the sand, the ocean, the time away from every day life … but I LOVE coming home, especially sleeping in my own bed.

Our first night back, L was fed, bathed and asleep by 6:15pm. Parent win ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป. I guess two weeks away from her normal routine and bedtime caught up with her.

Hubby and I quickly whipped up this delicious dinner, he grilled the shrimp ๐Ÿฆ and I made the creamy pasta. Yum!!!

Getting home I stepped on the scale … ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ … I shouldn’t have. Well, it was good because it’s a great reminder to try and eat healthier again!!

That didn’t start Saturday though since we had a BBQ at my sisters and donuts and cake were served ๐Ÿ˜!!

We also had lots of delicious grilled meats, a carrot and arugula salad my mom made and this yummy grilled corn salad – recipe coming to the blog on Monday.

And my little sister brought her famous chocolate chip cookies and chocolate covered strawberries!!

Sunday started off better with some plain yogurt, fruit and homemade granola ๐Ÿ“.

I made a loaf of bread on Sunday, but accidentally over proofed it. It still tastes great, just looked a tad sad. See how saggy the top is? It deflated when I transferred it from the proofing basket to the cast iron skillet.

We are the bread with some grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, cucumber and raspberries. Super easy dinner but a hit.

My sisters, mom and I went to Sam’s club Monday late morning to stock up on a few random things. Guys … I haven’t been to Sam’s in AGES!!! So many good finds!! I was so proud when I only spent $66!! The best find was a 20 lbs bag of rice for under $10!! And since we don’t consume that much rice, my sis and I split it. Totally a win ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป.

Since it was a late lunch for L and I, we kept it simple with sandwiches ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ˜Š.

Dinner was a toddler request of taco bowls ๐ŸŒฎ, a family favorite!

On Monday we had a cookout at our place with my sisters and parents. Of course I had to bake a loaf of sourdough, and got a tad fancy with the scoring ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ˜‰.

I’ve also had a chocolate craving for days ๐Ÿคฐ๐Ÿป, so I whipped up some Pioneer Woman dark chocolate brownies … yum!!!!

We had some mashed potatoes (can you tell I LOVE mashed potatoes?), with zucchini boats my mom made and lots of grilled meats.

This is bad guys … my parents are still in town, so our early lunch naturally was this amazing ice cream cone ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cups and raspberries!! So good!!

I kept my real lunch super light to a sandwich and cherries, knowing dinner would be Five Guys ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ. Seriously need to start eating less junk ๐Ÿ˜‰ … although it’s so worth it. Haha

Friday night we went to a neighbors house for a BBQ. We had pulled pork, an amazing buffalo chicken dip, delicious flourless chocolate cake, veggie tray and I brought the grilled corn salad ๐ŸŒฝ. I forgot to take some pictures … sorry ๐Ÿ˜‰.
