Inspired by Mexican grilled corn, my mix of Mexican cheeses, jalapeño, and sweet corn makes the most delicious party dip!]]> Elote Mexican Street Corn Queso Dip

Prepare to have your life changed by this Elote Mexican Street Corn Queso Dip Recipe! Inspired by Mexican grilled corn, my mix of Mexican cheeses, jalapeño, and sweet corn makes the most delicious party dip for the Super Bowl, Cinco de Mayo, family parties, and more. This Mexican street corn dip is one of my most popular recipes and my go-to cheese dip for parties.

This Elote dip recipe is easy, cheesy, and so satisfying! The secret to perfect queso is in how you prepare the grated cheese and it’s such a simple step you’ll never have clumpy queso again!

I first discovered elote when the movie Nacho Libre came out. I was instantly intrigued by that creamy, cheesy corn on a stick because it looked utterly irresistible. Since then, elote has grown in popularity, and I have loved experimenting with it at home.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy it is by turning it into a gooey queso dip, which is just as addictive, easy to share, packed with flavor, and perfect for taco nights or casual gatherings. Every time I make it, I am transported back to that first “aha” moment, and it has now become a beloved staple in my kitchen.

When served off the cob, this dish is called esquites. In Mexico, it is a popular street food featuring sweet corn kernels coated in a creamy, cheesy, and slightly spicy sauce. This queso recipe is my take on esquites, capturing all the bold, comforting flavors in a warm, shareable dip.

Ingredients For Elote Queso Dip Recipe

This queso is all about simple ingredients that pack a ton of flavor. Sweet corn, melty cheeses, and a little bit of spice come together to make a dip that everyone will want to scoop up. Grab everything you need, and get ready for cheesy, gooey, elote-inspired goodness.

Base & Sauce

  • Butter: melted with oil to start the queso
  • Vegetable Oil: pairs with butter for sautéing
  • Jalapeño: adds heat and flavor when sautéed
  • Cornstarch: coats the cheese to help thicken the sauce
  • Evaporated Milk: creates a creamy, smooth base
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese: gives sharp, bold flavor
  • Chihuahua Cheese: melts beautifully for authentic queso texture
  • Monterey Jack Cheese: adds creaminess and stretch
  • Salt: seasons the queso
  • Corn: stirred into the queso and sprinkled on top

Garnishes & Serving

  • Mexican Crema: drizzled over the top for richness
  • Cilantro Leaves: fresh herb garnish
  • Queso Fresco or Cotija: crumbled on top for extra flavor
  • Chili Powder: optional sprinkle of spice
  • Tortilla Chips: served on the side for dipping

This queso is game-day ready! It’s perfect with tortilla chips on Super Bowl Sunday, served with your favorite tacos, or drizzled over a hearty burrito.

Looking to add some extra heat to this homemade queso recipe?

Try mixing in extra finely diced jalapeños, a pinch or two of cayenne pepper, roasted green chiles, or even a can of Rotel for a spicy kick that balances perfectly with the creamy cheese sauce.

How to Make Elote Mexican Street Corn Queso?

This homemade queso dip recipe is the ultimate appetizer! It’s made with real shredded cheese (NOT velveeta) tossed with cornstarch in order to perfectly thicken the sauce and melted into a silky, gooey cheese sauce and loaded with sweet elote-style corn. It’s rich, flavorful, and even better than what you’ll find at your favorite Mexican restaurant.

  1. Prep: Toss the cheeses with cornstarch in a large bowl.
  2. Cook: Heat butter and vegetable oil in a skillet, sauté the jalapeños until soft, then set aside.
  3. Whisk: Slowly pour in evaporated milk, whisking until smooth.
  4. Melt: Remove from heat and stir in the cheeses until creamy and the cheese melts, then season with salt and fold in most of the corn.
  5. Finish: Top with reserved corn, crema, cilantro, queso fresco or cotija, and chili powder. Serve warm with tortilla chips.

Can I Make This Queso Dip Recipe in a Slow Cooker?

For a hands-off version of this queso, toss the shredded cheeses with cornstarch and place them in the crock-pot with melted butter, vegetable oil, evaporated milk, corn, jalapeños, and salt. Stir gently to combine, cover, and cook on low for 1 to 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and creamy.

For serving, top with reserved corn, a drizzle of Mexican crema, fresh cilantro, crumbled queso fresco or cotija, and a pinch of chili powder if desired. Keep the crock-pot on warm during your gathering so the queso stays smooth and gooey for dipping.

Storing and Reheating This Elote Queso Dip Recipe

Store any leftover queso in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. When ready to reheat, pull it out of the fridge and warm it gently on the stovetop over low heat or in the microwave in short intervals, stirring often to keep it smooth and creamy. If the queso thickens too much, stir in a splash of milk to bring back the desired consistency.

What to Serve with Elote Queso Dip

Elote queso dip is the kind of appetizer that knocks your socks off! We like to make this one for the Super Bowl! We keep it simple and serve this dip with a big bowl of tortilla chips, but it is just as delicious drizzled over tacos, spooned onto burrito bowls, or used as a topping for nachos.

You can serve it alongside grilled meats like carne asada, chicken, or shrimp for a fun Tex-Mex twist, or keep it simple with warm flour tortillas for dipping. For parties, pair it with guacamole, salsa, and a fresh pico de gallo to create the ultimate appetizer spread.

This elote queso dip is creamy, cheesy, and loaded with bold flavor, making it the perfect Super Bowl appetizer. Serve it warm with tortilla chips, and watch it disappear before your eyes.

This easy baked Cranberry Cream Cheese Dip is the perfect holiday appetizer this season. Only a few simple ingredients (cheese, cream cheese, leftover cranberry sauce, cranberries and spices) to this savory hot dip. Ever wondered what to make with leftover cranberry sauce? This is the answer!

Carrian’s Secret Sandwich!

Not only is this an amazing dip, it’s also to-die-for as a spread for sandwiches or grilled up into a grilled cheese sandwich with ham or turkey. Try it and share on instagram by tagging @ohsweetbasil and #ohsweetbasil.

Ingredients for our Holiday Dip Recipe

  • Extra-Sharp White Cheddar Cheese, grated
  • Mozzarella Cheese, grated
  • Cream cheese, softened
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Fresh Cranberries, May substitute with frozen, but do not thaw
  • Fresh Rosemary (or dried)
  • Nutmeg
  • Orange zest, optional

How to Make Cranberry Cream Cheese Dip

  1. Spray a small baking dish with nonstick spray and preheat the oven to 375.
  2. Mix together the cream cheese, 3/4 of the cheeses, nutmeg, orange zest and rosemary.
  3. Fold in the cranberries.
  4. Spoon the cranberry mixture evenly into prepared baking dish.
  5. Add dollops of the cranberry sauce with a spoon and swirl with the spoon or a knife.
  6. Top with remaining shredded cheeses.
  7. Bake until bubbly and the edges are browning.

Cream Cheese Cranberry Dip Tips

I like to place some homemade cranberry sauce in a freezer bag and toss it in the freezer around Thanksgiving, so that I can have it already prepared for this dip at Christmas. However, you can also prepare the cranberry sauce in advance and store covered in the refrigerator.

Use good quality white cheddar cheese like Tillamook. Buy a block and shred it yourself for a 10x better taste and gooeyness.

What to Serve With Cranberry Cream Cheese Dip

So, what can you use to dip into a cranberry cream cheese dip? You can serve it with crackers, crostini, pita chips or slices or even vegetables.

Slow Cooker Instructions

Lightly coat the inside of a small slow-cooker (3-quart slow cooker is ideal) with a non-stick spray. Prepare the dip ingredients as written in step #2. Add the mixture to the bowl of a slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 1 hour or until heated through and the cheese is melted. In the last 5-10 minutes of cooking, add the reserved cheese over the top.

To Make Ahead

Prepare and assemble the dip as written. Cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day. Cranberry sauce can be made up to 1 week in advance.

Storing Cranberry Cheese Dip

You can store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.

Can You Freeze Cranberry Dip?

From my experience, the cream cheese in this dip can turn grainy and the cranberry sauce can become a little watery when reheated from frozen. However, wrapping well in foil and then defrosting in the fridge will help. If frozen, I highly recommend baking to reheat.

How to Reheat Baked Cream Cheese Dip

To reheat your dip in the microwave heat it on high for 30 seconds at a time, or bake, covered with foil at 350 until bubbly, about 20 minutes.

Can I Use Fresh or Frozen Cranberries

You can use either fresh or frozen cranberries to make a dip.

Bonus Tip- How to Make Crostini

Do you want to serve it with our favorite accompaniment, crostinis?

Bake on the middle rack for 6 to 9 minutes, until they’re crisp and nicely golden on top. Sprinkle the toasts lightly with salt.

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

Slice your baguette on the diagonal into crostini pieces no wider than ½-inch. Place slice on a baking sheet. Lightly brush both sides of each slice with olive oil

Variations & Substitutions

I love how versatile this dip is. Try out:

  • Jalapeño Cranberry Dip | Like it spicy? Add two tablespoons of chopped jarred jalapeños or 1 fresh chopped jalapeno to the dip!
  • Love nuts? Add ¼ cup of your favorite chopped nuts, pistachios are my favorite!
  • Make it indulgent! Crisp up prosciutto to sprinkle all over the dip before serving. It’s so good!

This Sizzling Oil Greek Feta Dip has become our family’s obsession! If you’re looking for a simple, crowd pleasing Greek appetizer that can be prepared in minutes, this is it! All you need is olive oil, herbs, feta and garlic! We love it served with crostini!

Why We Love Sizzling Oil Feta Dip with Crostini

As you know, our Sizzling Oil Appetizer and our Sizzling Oil Spaghetti have gone crazy online and for good reason. I honestly think that when something sounds, smells and looks appetizing it literally ends up more appetizing.

We are all obsessed with the show stopping moment that the sizzling, popping hot oil is poured out over the noodles. So what else could we make for that moment? A feta dip of course! Just wait until you serve this Herby Feta Appetizer!

Ingredients for Sizzling Oil Feta

  • Olive Oil: Helps cook the garlic and acts as the “sauce” for the feta.
  • Garlic: Use fresh garlic so it ends up a little toasted.
  • Fresh Herbs: Parsley, Oregano (or Marjoram), Rosemary and Basil
  • Red Pepper Flakes: Adds flavor and a little heat.
  • Kosher Salt: Adds flavor.
  • Balsamic Glaze: Adds acidity and a little sweetness as a cooked down syrup. (TIP: Balsamic Vinegar works fine too)
  • Feta: Make sure you buy the block, even if you choose to break it up ahead of time for easier dipping.
  • Crostini: The perfect vessel for carrying cheese straight to mouth

How to Make Sizzling Oil Feta Dip

  1. Mix: Place all the herbs, garlic and spices in a shallow bowl and mix to combine. Or add the garlic to the oil for a toasted garlic flavor. Spread over the feta.
  2. Heat: Add the oil to a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. When the oil is shimmering, add the garlic and let it toast.
    • PRO TIP: Pay close attention to the garlic because it will brown quickly and you don’t want it to burn.
  3. Pour: Pour the hot oil and garlic over the top of the herbs mixture and feta. Drizzle with some balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with salt.
  4. Eat: Dig in!

FAQs

Can I use dry herbs instead of fresh?

You can use fresh or dried herbs or even spices. During the summer when fresh herbs are readily available and at their peak, use those because they have more flavor. To use dried, half the amount for each herb.

Could I add olives?

Absolutely! I would chop them up for easier scooping with the feta.

My Crostini Breaks when Dipping

Try breaking up the feta a bit before pouring the oil over it. Just know that breaking it up first will make leftovers break down more quickly.

How to Store Sizzling Oil Feta

Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

This cowboy caviar recipe is the ultimate easy, healthy dip— loaded with black beansblack-eyed peasavocadocornbell peppers, and bold Southwest flavors. It’s the perfect make-ahead appetizerpotluck side dish, or even a light vegetarian meal. While everyone seems to have their own spin on cowboy caviar, I have to say, this one’s the best! It’s fresh, colorful, packed with plant-based protein, and totally crowd-pleasing.

a photo of a large white bowl full of cowboy caviar consisting of black beans, black eyed peas, diced tomatoes, avocados, green bell pepper, corn, black olives and fresh cilantro.

The first time I ever had cowboy caviar was honestly a little embarrassing. Cade and I were broke newlyweds at a function with people we barely knew, and I was fully prepared to enjoy a generous spread without spending a dime. But then I spotted a big bowl of what looked like… a bunch of weird beans. I hesitated.

Cade, on the other hand, scooped up a huge helping and devoured it like it was the best thing he’d ever eaten. So I gave it a try, and then went back for seconds… and thirds. That’s when things got a little awkward. A sweet woman across the room smiled and said, “I can see you really love that! Let me give you the recipe!” And, well, she wasn’t wrong. I’ve been making it ever since.

a bowl of texas caviar loaded with beans, fresh vegetables all mixed with an Italian dressing.

What I Love About This Recipe

This recipe is totally flexible. If I’m short on one kind of bean, I just double up on another. You can stick to the classic version or make it your own with whatever you’ve got on hand. It’s simple, delicious, and always a hit.

I love that you get that creamy coolness from the avocados with some crunch from the peppers. I love the sweet and the little hint of spicy… mmmmm so yummy. And, it’s easy, which is great for when you want something really tasty but you don’t have a lot of time to put something super fancy together. It’s just simple and delicious. Just how it should be.

What is Cowboy Caviar?

Ok, back to the recipe! Cowboy caviar, or Texas caviar, is a salad with black beans, black-eyed peas, fresh corn kernels, Roma tomatoes, and a light vinaigrette-style dressing. Lots of fresh vegetables (diced small) are mixed with the beans. It is supposed to look similar to caviar, with all the ingredients being similar in size to the beans. It is the perfect thing to bring to a summer BBQ as a dipappetizer, or the perfect summer side dish! Be prepared to be asked to bring it to every event from here on out.

Is This Cowboy Caviar Recipe Healthy?

When it comes to dip recipes, this is just about as healthy as it gets. It’s vegan and gluten-free, and oh so delicious! Beans are a great source of protein, and all those fresh vegetables are full of vitamins and nutrients. If you are concerned about fat or calories, you could lessen the Italian dressing that you add or omit the avocados. Though avocados are the best kind of fat! Mmmmmm…I love them!

What Goes in This Cowboy Caviar Recipe?

You will start your grocery shopping on the canned goods aisle and then end up spending most of your time in the produce section. I absolutely love how fresh and healthy this dip is! Here is what you will need:

Fresh Produce

  • Bell Pepper: Any color works great or a combination of colors… so pretty!
  • Diced Roma Tomatoes or Grape Tomatoes: Use Italian or Mexican-style tomatoes if you use canned, and be sure to drain them well.
  • Red Onion: Dice it up fairly small.
  • Avocados: Look for ripe avocados. I like to cut them small while still in the skin and then scoop them out.
  • Cilantro: Chop it up nice and small.
  • Lime: You will use the zest and juice. It adds the best punch of flavor!

Pantry Goods

  • Black Olives: We like to get the medium size and then slice them up.
  • Frozen Corn or Hominy: You can add the corn in frozen. It doesn’t take long to thaw at all.
  • Black-eyed Peas: You will want to drain and rinse them well.
  • Black Beans: We also use canned beans, but you can totally make your own if you want to use dried beans. Just make sure they have cooled completely.
  • Italian Dressing: Feel free to choose your favorite store-bought brand, or you can make it from scratch with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and some basic pantry seasonings.
  • Diced Green Chiles: You can play with the heat a little here and get mild, medium, or hot chiles.
  • Cumin: Just the tiniest bit of cumin adds the best flavor.
  • Salt and Pepper: Taste as you go as you add the S & P and season to taste.

The measurements of all the ingredients can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post.

How to Make This Cowboy Caviar Recipe

It’s all about fresh ingredients, bright flavors, and a quick prep that makes this easy cowboy caviar ideal for busy nights, potlucks, or snacky weekends at home. Follow these simple steps, and you’ll have a colorful bowl of cowboy caviar ready to go in no time.

  1. Drain: Rinse and drain the black beans, black-eyed peas, olives, and canned tomatoes (if using).
  2. Chop: Dice the bell peppers, onions, tomatoes (if fresh), avocado, and cilantro into small pieces.
  3. Toss: Add all the veggies, beans, corn, and green chiles into a large bowl.
  4. Season: Zest and juice the lime over the mix, then sprinkle in the cumin, salt, and pepper.
  5. Dress: Pour Italian dressing over everything and gently mix until well combined.
  6. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors come together.
  7. Serve: Spoon it up with tortilla chips, add to tacos, or enjoy as a salad!

More detailed instructions can be found in the recipe card below.

Variations for Texas Caviar

In fact, you could totally play around with the flavors, too. Want more bite? Add some jalapeños or a tsp of chili powder. Want half hominy and half corn? Go for it! When are those things ever a bad thing? Never! This recipe is totally versatile and can be customized to your liking. You can omit things you don’t like or switch up anything. Use pinto beans or kidney beans instead of black beans.

How To Make This Cowboy Caviar Recipe into a Meal

Cowboy caviar might be most commonly eaten as a dip with tortilla chips, but in our house, it’s so much more than that. I’ll happily eat it straight as a side dish, and if we have any left after dinner with friends, it’s 100% my lunch the next day! Pure heaven!! We’ve spooned it over tacosburritos, and taco salads, mixed it with rice for a hearty side, and even tossed it with lettuce to turn it into a quick salad. On busy nights, it becomes a full meal.

I love piling it onto baked sweet potatoes, tossing it with warm quinoa and feta, tucking it into wraps with grilled chicken, or scooping it into crisp lettuce cups. It’s budget-friendly, flexible, and always satisfying! It’s one of those fridge staples I rely on when I need something easy that still feels fresh and nourishing. Plus, it’s totally kid-friendly!

How Long Will This Cowboy Caviar Recipe Keep?

Cowboy caviar will keep up to 5 days in the refrigerator. It should be covered with plastic wrap or placed in an airtight container. It does not freeze well because some of the ingredients don’t hold up in the freezer.

This is a great make-ahead recipe and actually tastes better after it sits for a while to let the flavors meld. You can make it up to 3-4 days ahead of time, but if you can let it sit for a few hours (up to overnight) before serving, that is the real sweet spot!

PRO TIP: Don’t add the avocados and cilantro until right before serving.

Tips for Making This Cowboy Caviar Recipe

  • Let it rest: The magic really happens after it sits. Even just 30 minutes of chill time helps the flavors soak into the beans and come together beautifully. I usually make it a day ahead and let it rest overnight for the best flavor.
  • Make it ahead: This is a lifesaver for big events or holidays. You can prep it up to a day or two in advance, which makes entertaining so much easier.
  • Wait on the avocado: Add the avocados just before serving to keep them fresh and vibrant. Nobody wants a brown avocado in their cowboy caviar!
  • Stir well before serving: The dressing tends to settle at the bottom, so give it a really good mix to redistribute all that goodness.

Ok, here it goes…I’m going there (use your best cowboy accent)…so saddle up, partner, and load up your plate full of this here delicious cowboy caviar. It’s fresh, delicious, totally irresistible, and downright purdy with all those beautiful, bright veggies! Yeeeeeeehaw!

Add a burst of flavor to your salads with this simple and nutritious creamy basil dressing recipe. Made with fresh ingredients, it’s the perfect addition to your healthy meal options.

This is one of those recipes that has evolved over time and has become one of my favorites. I drew some inspiration from our creamy avocado cilantro dressing, but in this salad dressing recipe, I mix up the herbs and amounts sometimes depending on what I have on hand or what is in season. I’ve even served it over roasted corn for a corn salad once. So good! It’s just one of my go-to, most favorite things ever.

We used this fresh basil salad dressing on our BLT pasta salad once and we have never used any other dressing on it since. It is just so bright and fresh and the perfect creaminess and zesty flavor for that pasta salad recipe. Scroll down to the section below for more ideas of how to use this dressing recipe.

Ingredients for Creamy Basil Dressing

This creamy basil salad dressing is a perfect blend of fresh, vibrant herbs and smooth, rich flavors. Made with simple, yet delicious ingredients, it brings a burst of aromatic basil combined with the creaminess of Greek yogurt and mayo. Here’s a list of the ingredients you’ll need to make this delightful dressing:

  • Plain Greek Yogurt: Lightens up the dressing a little and adds great protein.
    • Possible substitute: sour cream
  • Mayonnaise: Adds more creaminess and gives a little acidity to the dressing.
  • Buttermilk: Helps thin out the dressing to a good consistency while keeping the dressing tangy and fresh.
  • Fresh Herbs: Basil, Parsley, Dill and Chives — Everything must be fresh, no other option here.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: Adds delicious umami undertones to the dressing and some acidity.
  • Seasonings: Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Kosher Salt and Black Pepper

The measurements for each ingredient can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post.

How to Make Easy Homemade Basil Dressing

This creamy basil dressing recipe is both easy to make and good for you. Perfect for adding some flavor to your favorite greens. Let me show you how easy it is to make…

  1. Blend: Add all the ingredients for dressing to a blender and blend until smooth.
    • NOTE: You can also use a food processor or immersion blender.

Yep, that’s it! Only one step! The recipe card below also contains all these instructions. You can also print or save the recipe there.

Storage Tips

Extra salad dressing should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. My favorite way to store it is in a mason jar with a lid. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

What to Pair with Creamy Basil Dressing

Of course this basil dressing goes great on salads…any combinations of greens will taste great with this dressing. But no need to stop there! It can be used in so many different ways. Here are a few ideas:

  • Marinade for chicken or beef
  • Topping for grilled chicken
  • Dipping sauce for fresh veggies (crudités) or bread
  • Pasta sauce
  • Spread on a sandwich
  • Topping for roasted potatoes
  • Drizzled over the top of tomato slices and fresh mozzarella slices

We would love to hear how you use this creamy basil dressing! Leave a comment and let us know!

This creamy basil dressing is not only delicious, but also healthy and easy to make. Perfect for salads, as a dip, or drizzled over grilled vegetables. You’re going to want to use this dressing all summer long!

Satisfy your chocolate cravings with this rich, creamy, and irresistible Brownie Batter Dip. Made with just 5 simple ingredients, this indulgent treat delivers all the flavor of classic brownie batter in a simple dip. It is the perfect easy dessert recipe for holidays, game days, family nights, or anytime you need something sweet fast.

Our kids have been cooking more lately, and while I love watching them learn in the kitchen, I also want it to stay fun rather than just a way to prepare food. When we found the adorable 50 Fixes for Brownie Mixes cookbook by Aimee from Like Mother Like Daughter, it felt perfect for our Friday movie nights and a great way to spark their creativity while spending time together.

We value family time and try to teach our kids that siblings can be best friends, so cooking together has become another meaningful way for them to bond. They can choose any recipe from the book as long as they make it side by side, and their latest creation, brownie batter dip, was incredibly delicious. The whole cookbook is filled with beautiful photos, simple recipes, and so many brownie-inspired treats, which also happens to be Cade’s biggest weakness!

This decadent dessert dip is your new go to when you want a quick appetizer, a fun no bake dessert, or a crowd pleasing treat for a partypotluck, or last minute gathering. Simple to whip up, endlessly dippable, and always delicious, this brownie batter dip is guaranteed to be a favorite on any dessert table.

Brownie Batter Dessert Dip Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this chocolate dessert dip:

  • Cream Cheese: full fat, softened to room temperature
  • Cool Whip: let it thaw so it’s not frozen and clumpy when you mix it in
  • Boxed Brownie Mix: any brand will do but our favorite is Ghirardelli
  • Milk: helps thin the dip out
  • Mini Chocolate Chips: These are optional but we love the texture it adds

A Note on Cream Cheese

For the richest, creamiest chocolate dip, you’ll want to use full-fat cream cheese that comes in a brick. The cream cheese also needs to come to room temperature before making this easy holiday dessert, otherwise the dip won’t whip up correctly.

How to Make Brownie Batter Dessert Dip

This truly is such an easy dessert dip recipe! It’s great for a simple Valentine’s Day dessert or if you just want a snack for your family movie night, this creamy brownie batter dip is a must!

Exact instructions and measurements are included in the recipe card below, but here’s a brief explanation of how we make this brownie batter dip:

  1. Cream: Using an electric hand mixer, cream the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Mix: Add in the Cool Whip.
  3. Incorporate: Add the brownie mix and milk.
  4. Fold: Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Serve: Enjoy with your favorite snacks!

An Important Note:

You’ll be adding the boxed brownie mix to the chocolate dessert dip as a dry ingredient. Do NOT add the oil, eggs, or water that the box calls for! Just dump the mix straight from the box into the dip.

What to Serve with Brownie Batter Dessert Dip

You may be tempted to leave out those mini chocolate chips, but do not do it!!! They take the recipe from good to amazing. It breaks up the flavor and I found myself digging for them.

If you don’t like chocolate chips (who are you?!?!), try mixing in crushed Oreos. That would be fabulous! Other delicious mix-ins to try – mini m&m’s, peanut butter chips, Reese’s Pieces, or Heath Bits.

One of the things I love most about this easy chocolate dessert is that it pairs well with just about anything, making it perfect for serving with a variety of dippers. Some of our favorites include pretzels or pretzel chips, cinnamon sugar pita chips, fresh fruit like strawberries, banana, and apple slices, cookies (store-bought or homemade), vanilla wafers, marshmallows, and classic graham crackers.

Storing Brownie Batter Dip

Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. It will keep for up to 4 days but it tastes the best and has the best texture within 24 hours of making it.

Brownie Batter Dip FAQs

Can I Use Homemade Whipped Cream Instead of Cool Whip?

We’ve only ever made this edible brownie batter dip recipe as written, so I can’t say for sure. You may be able to use homemade whipped cream in place of the Cool Whip whipped topping but make sure it is stabilized whipped cream so it holds its structure. Please let me know if you try this method!

Can I Make This Ahead of Time?

Yes! This easy party dessert can be made up to one day in advance. You’ll want to wrap it with plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve it.

Do I Need to Heat-Treat the Brownie Mix?

I’ve never had issues using raw brownie mix, but if you want to be safe, you can heat-treat it.

Oven: Spread the mix on a baking sheet and bake at 300°F for about 10 minutes.
Microwave: Heat the mix in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until it reaches 160°F.

Let it cool completely before adding it to the dip.

Can I Freeze Brownie Batter Dessert Dip?

No, I don’t recommend freezing this chocolate dip. The cream cheese will break down in the freezer and the dip will change texture once thawed.

Indulge in the rich, chocolatey goodness of this irresistible brownie batter dip. Perfect for parties or as a quick and easy dessert, this recipe is sure to please your taste buds.

Cheese fondue and all the sides you could want for a happy New Year’s Eve celebration! Pull out your skewers, because it’s time to dip all the things in cheese! This fondue is creamy and smooth and is a blend of 3 cheeses.

What does New Year’s Eve look like at your house? Do you have any food traditions? Cheese fondue has become a favorite NYE tradition of ours. It is so fun to put that big pot o’ cheese in the middle of a bunch of fun dipping choices!

What is your favorite thing to dip in cheese fondue? We are going to share all our favorite dippers as well as how easy it is to make this fondue. As long as we are having a party, make a batch of dessert chocolate fondue too and dip away!

What Ingredients Go in Cheese Fondue?

This ingredients list is short and simple! Grab these three cheeses and few things you probably already have, and you’re on your way to cheese town! Here is everything you need for this cheese fondue recipe:

  • Fontina Cheese
  • Gruyere Cheese
  • Smoked Gouda
    • TIP: Buy all the cheeses in a block and shred it yourself. The pre-shredded cheeses are coated in additives that prevent them from melting together properly.
  • EZ Gel or Corn Starch
  • Garlic Clove
  • Chicken Broth
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Dijon Mustard
  • Nutmeg

The measurements for each ingredient can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post. And don’t forget to buy all the stuff for dipping too. See section below for our suggestions.

How to Make Cheese Fondue?

You aren’t going to believe how easy it is to make your cheese fondue at home! Here are the steps:

  1. Toss: Grate all the cheeses and toss with the EZ Gel (or cornstarch) and set aside.
  2. Rub: Slice a garlic clove in half and then rub the exposed side all over inside your fondue pot (or saucepan).
  3. Simmer: Add the broth and vinegar to the pot over medium heat and bring it to a simmer.
  4. Stir: Add the grated cheese mixture to the pot one handful at a time and stir until melted.
  5. Mix: The mustard and nutmeg get added last. Stir them in until smooth.
  6. Serve: Serve with all your favorite accompaniments.

The steps for making this recipe can also be found in the recipe card below.

What to Dip in Cheese Fondue?

These are some of our favorite things to dip in melted cheese:

  • Bread Cubes
  • Apple Slices
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Roasted Baby Potatoes
  • Raw or Steamed Broccoli or Cauliflower
  • Sausage
  • Crackers
  • Pretzels (we love the soft pretzel bites you can find at Costco)
  • Carrot Sticks
  • Bell Peppers Slices
  • Ham Slices
  • Meatballs
  • Chips
  • Seedless Grapes
  • Apples

Anything that sounds good with cheese will be great for dipping. Use your imagination and get what your family and guests love!

What Is the Best Fondue Pot?

I really think that a fondue pot is needed to make this cheese fondue. I have this one from Cuisinart and it is great at keeping cheese at the perfect temperature and can easily feed a crowd! Who doesn’t love sitting around with a group of people you love and dipping things into gooey cheese or silky chocolate? You can get it on Amazon for around $70.

What Can You Substitute For Fontina Cheese?

Gruyère, provolone, gouda, or Emmentaler cheese are good substitutes for fontina cheese. Mozzarella can be used in a pinch.

Try monterey jack cheese for a for Mexican spin. We also really like swiss cheese. Choose the cheese combination that you love.

Can White Vinegar Be Substituted For Apple Cider Vinegar?

White vinegar can be substituted for apple cider vinegar, however, you may need to add just a splash of lemon juice for better flavor.

Is Cheese Fondue an Appetizer or Main Dish?

It can be either! It is a s super fun appetizer for a party or for feeding a crowd. People love picking out their own dippers and indulging in this creamy cheese. It can also be a main dish for feeding the fam. My kids love when we have fondue for dinner!

Do You Have to Have a Fondue Pot to Make Fondue?

We do have a fondue pot that we love, but you don’t have to have one to enjoy this recipe. It works just fine in a saucepan over the stove. Just be sure to keep the heat medium to low so you don’t scorch the cheese.

We also love to use fondue forks to dip the food into the cheese, but they aren’t necessary.

Storing and Reheating

Leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It will keep for 4-5 days.

How Do You Reheat Cheese Fondue?

Reheat on the stove top, in a double boiler, or in the microwave, adding a little liquid as needed.

Can You Freeze Cheese Fondue?

Cheese fondue can be frozen for up to 2 months in an airtight container. A little liquid needs to be added when reheating frozen fondue.

It’s not easy being cheesy…unless you’re this cheese fondue! It’s easy and dreamy! New Years Eve is a great occasion to do something special, and our family loves to celebrate by dipping everything we can get our hands on in this fondue!
