Pretty tasty recipe. But the recipe can be much more clear and better written. 1. Why use cups of carrots as a measurement? Just use the weight instead of cups. You buy carrots by weight at the store (1.5 cup of carrots are about 7 oz). Plus you have to just keep cutting until you get to the desired cup measurement. 2. Give the weight or volume measurement of the cream of mushroom soup instead of saying 1.5 cans. There are 10.5 oz cans, there are 26 oz cans and there are 48 oz cans. Just makes it more understandable. Other than that, good recipe

Hi Ana! There are a couple of videos in the post. I just moved them around a little so hopefully they are in better spots for our readers. There is a vertical, more phone friendly video right after the first paragraph. Then the second one is right before the recipe card. For the ground beef, up in the section where the ingredients are listed, it says cooked ground beef in all the different versions.

There is no video even though title says there is one, maybe its behind all the ads? And recipes are not clear whether beef should be cooked prior to mixing, in 2 of the recipes it says to just add beef, in the semi homemade it says add cooked beef.

Thank you so much for the feedback Chelsea! The ground beef should be cooked before adding it in. You can definitely leave out the carrots or swap them for a different veggie that you like.

I made the scratch version. It came out tasty! However, I found the carrots added a bit of a sweet note that I didn’t want, so I’ll leave them out next time. Like someone else I made this in a Dutch oven and turned it from a 90 minute meal to a 30 minute meal. Also agree on unclear directions- the beef- was it supposed to be cooked or raw when added to the casserole dish?

All in all I enjoyed it. I’ll be making again

Hey! So sorry for the frustration! IF you can give us some tips on how to make them more clear, we would love to hear it! This recipe is unique in the fact that there are three different versions in one recipe card.

Just made the scratch version , haven’t eaten it yet but I’m almost afraid to, these are without a doubt the worst instructions I’ve seen.

That sounds perfect Susie! We keep it pretty tame on the seasonings for our picky eaters, but you can definitely amp up the salt and other seasonings if desired! Worcestershire sauce is a great idea! I appreciate the feedback so much!

Commenting on the “from scratch” version: OK, so I used leftover brown rice (because this makes it a super DUPER easy weeknight meal!) and doubled it, baked in my large dutch oven. I doubled the mushrooms called for (as in 4x original) because mushrooms <3, and didn't have carrots, so I used 1.5C frozen peas (would probably use 1/2-3/4C as written). Also felt like recipe in general needed more salt. Used close to 1-1.5tsp all told. Oh, and 2C of that leftover brown rice. Had block cheddar on hand so 1-1.5C of shredded cheddar. DELISH. My only wish was that I had Worcestershire sauce on hand to use when browning the beef, but as it were, I used a little garlic powder, onion powder, and 1tsp beef bullion paste.
