You know the kind of garlic bread that you can’t resist because it’s so buttery and garlicky and perfect? Well, this is that garlic bread recipe!

Ingredients for Garlic Bread

There’s no need to go to tons of trouble to make garlic bread. If you have a loaf of french bread ready to go, then you only need 3 more ingredients

Trust me on the Johnny’s Garlic Spread. It is pure magic! I buy it at Costco, but I’ve linked to it on Amazon too. The measurements for each can be found in the recipe card at the end of the post.

How to Make Homemade Garlic Bread

When it comes to making the garlic bread, you have an important decision to make…crispy, crunchy OR soft, chewy? My person preference is crispy and crunchy, but my girls love it soft and chewy.

Crispy and Crunchy

  1. Mix a stick of butter with the minced garlic.
  2. Cut the loaf into slices and slather each slice with the garlic butter and sprinkle with Johnny’s Garlic Spread.
  3. Place the slices butter side up on a baking sheet and tent with foil until it is warmed and the butter has started to melt.
  4. Then remove the foil and change the oven to broil. Keep a close eye on it and pull it out when the bread starts to brown.
  5. Pull the baking sheet from the oven and spread a little more butter on it and sprinkle it with fresh parsley. So much butter. So much happiness.

Soft and Chewy

  1. Mix a stick of butter with the minced garlic.
  2. Cut the loaf in half length wise and slather both halves with the garlic butter mixture and then sprinkle with Johnny’s Garlic Spread.
  3. Put the two halves back together buttered sides facing each other and wrap it in foil.
  4. Place the wrapped loaf directly on the grate in the oven and bake.

Which method are you going to try first? Both methods taste great dunked in a bowl full of roasted tomato basil soup!

These directions in full detail can be found at the end of the post.

Can You Make Garlic Bread Ahead of Time?

This garlic bread recipe is great for making ahead of time. Cut and load up the bread with the garlic butter and garlic spread, then wrap it in plastic wrap and keep it at room temperature until you’re ready to bake it. Bake as stated in the instructions.

If you want to freeze it, wrap it in plastic wrap and then foil. It will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to bake it, pull it from the freezer and let it thaw on the counter for about 30 minutes. Then bake as stated in the instructions.

How to Reheat Garlic Bread

Garlic bread is best fresh, but if you need to reheat it, wrap it in foil and warm it up in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees.

I would recommend avoiding the microwave for reheating. It just makes it get soggy.

How to Store Garlic Bread

Garlic bread is best stored at room temperature in a plastic bag or airtight container. It will keep for 2-3 days. If you plan to keep it longer, place it in the freezer and then reheat as stated above.

How to Make Garlic Bread Cheesy

If you’re feeling extra wild and crazy (and smart), then you can add cheese to this garlic bread recipe. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella and 1/4 cup of parmesan on top of the butter and minced garlic then sprinkle with the spread. Garlic cheesy bliss!

What to Eat with Garlic Bread?

The better question is what should you not eat with garlic bread? Because garlic bread goes with just about everything! Here are some of our favorites:

It really goes great with all soups!

This is the best garlic bread recipe in town and it couldn’t be any easier! You know I am a fool for a good carb, and this bread is right at the top of my list of carbs worth the indulgence!

Hi Carrian, Cade, and fam. This is Jeff Winett from Sherman Oaks, California. You have introduced me to “Johnny’s”, and there is no turning back! First off, thank you so much for this awesome garlic bread recipe. It’s fantastic. Now I even use your exact garlicky butter, baked with Shrimp. OMG, so yummy. What you’ve done that takes this seasoning mix to a new level, is adding fresh garlic to their recipes on the label. Last night on the back of the Johnny’s container I saw their version of a type of Ranch dressing. This recipe I just followed, without any extra fresh garlic. WOW, it was fantastic as well. I’ll never be without this for all of my remaining time in the kitchen. Happy holidays to all, and thank you for putting Johnny’s Garlic Spread & Seasoning in my kitchen cupboard. Cheers,
    Jeff

That Johnny’s garlic spread is way too expensive when you only get LESS than an ounce of it. FOR $19.00. !

    1. Sweet Basil says:

The $19 is for 2 containers of it and each container is 18oz. You can find it at Costco for even cheaper.
